GlassWRX Announces Investment In Beaufort County, SC

GlassWRX SC, located in Beaufort County, SC, is the prototype production facility of GlassWRX, LLC. The facility highlights the production of advanced materials made from post-consumer and industrial waste glass. These patents pending advanced materials are called Engineered Cellular Magmatics (ECMs). ECMs can be used in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of resilient and carbon-offsetting
Gray and Blue-Green Infrastructure.

GlassWRX has invested over $20 million in its new facility in Beaufort County and intends to create 63 jobs over the next five years.

Purchased in July 2019, GlassWRX SC will operate at 302 Parker Drive in an existing 84,000 SF building located at the Beaufort Commerce Park. The business will support the collection of glass from numerous sources throughout three states to be converted and manufactured into various products.

The company and community has forged a robust Public-Private Partnership to support the South Carolina facility, including the support of the Beaufort County EDC and the SC Department of Commerce.

“Glass WRX SC is a win-win for South Carolina. The company’s use of recycled materials in its products is a victory for the environment, as well as for Beaufort County. We congratulate Glass WRX SC on this investment and look forward to watching them thrive in the years to come,” said S.C. Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. “This investment from GlassWRX, LLC shows that Beaufort County is right for manufacturing. Having the right people, partners, and allies was important to bringing this deal to fruition,” said Beaufort County Council Chairman Stu Rodman. “The jobs that this project will bring to Beaufort County will make a difference in the lives of our citizens. We appreciate the investment of GlassWRX and the work of the Beaufort County EDC and our partners,” added County Councilman Gerald Dawson, who represents the area of Beaufort where Glass WRX SC will be located. Mayor Billy Keyserling of Beaufort added, “We would like to welcome GlassWRX to the City of Beaufort with open arms. The environmental stewardship of GlassWRX and their dedication to providing meaningful employments to our citizens is an excellent fit for our community.” “Beaufort County continues to prove it has the workforce, quality of life, and community support to attract industry. We would like to thank our partners for their contributions in bringing this project to Beaufort County. We look forward to many more successes,” remarked Ashley Feaster, Chair of the Beaufort County Economic Development Commission.

A February 2021 study by DataCore Partners, LLC estimates that by the end of year three of operations alone, GlassWRX SC will have an estimated total direct and indirect economic impact of 184 jobs, a $14.2 million total dollar impact from wages, and a $49.1 million total dollar impact from business spending.
